Hello and welcome to all my fellow brides! I think it’s safe to say that wedding planning looks a little different now than it did back in 2019 (thanks, Covid). But don’t worry, blushing brides, I’m here to help! I have worked in the wedding industry for 6 years now and I just so happen to have a few secrets that I have been gathering over the last few years.
Now that I am getting married in July 2022 I think it’s time to share them.
✨ First and foremost…trust me when I say you won’t regret getting a wedding planner. Wedding planning is no joke, some days it almost feels like a second job. To remain transparent with you all, I truly thought I’d be able to plan a wedding with my eyes closed. After being around hundreds of weddings, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, what to do and what not to do! However, I was humbled very quickly.
Having a planner to keep you on track during the planning process and on the day of your wedding is something you will not regret. I need to give a shout out to my planner and saving grace Johanna of Johanna Leigh Events. I seriously would not be as calm, cool and collected as I am without her by my side.
✨Once you’ve nailed down your engagement timeline don’t be afraid to get the ball rolling on your vendors. I knew we had a year and a half to plan our wedding, yet I started planning as soon as we decided on a month and year. Sure, there were a few comments here and there about it all happening fast, but now I’m 13 months out from the wedding with all my vendors booked, feeling cool as a cucumber.
Believe me when I say vendors are booked years in advance. I know it seems crazy, but a year’s notice for some vendors really is not enough time. If you want a suggestion on where to begin, I’d recommend booking your glam squad first as it’s one of the only vendors you only need a date for!
✨ Bridal trends, friends. You may be thinking, what bridal trends (again…thanks Covid.)? This is almost a blessing in disguise. We’re all a little guilty of falling for trends then looking back and wondering why the heck we ever fell for it. My best advice for a bride is go with what you FEEL the best in. If you feel your best with your hair down, then wear it down. Don’t feel like you have to follow that season’s in style bridal bun just because it’s trending.
Apply this rule throughout your entire planning process and you’ll never question why you chose what you chose.
