Hey, beauties! With summer right around the corner, it’s time to talk about sweatproof makeup! We’ve all experienced the feeling of our makeup seeming like it’s quite literally melting off our faces in the scorching heat. Sometimes it feels inevitable, but we’re here to give you some tips to lock in that perfect sweatproof makeup routine.
Let’s start with your base. You can’t guarantee your makeup is going to last all day, through the heat and sweat, if you aren’t using a really great primer! A mattifying primer is always a great idea to use before any makeup application. This Rare Beauty Pore Diffusing primer is a hydrating gel primer that blurs the look of pores and fine lines, extends the wear of your makeup and helps prevent shine throughout the day. We also love this Smashbox Photo Finish primer that blurs pores and is oil-free so your makeup lasts. It also contains Vitamins A and E to protect your skin. It’s a classic!
In terms of foundation, you want to think of using something sheer and lightweight. A heavy, thick foundation will likely melt off and streak on your face. Less is more for sweatproof makeup! We absolutely love our Age Defying BB cream, a glow-enhancing beauty balm that effortlessly softens the appearance of fine lines while smoothing the skin’s overall texture. It’s a weightless hybrid of skincare and makeup that provides sheer, radiant coverage while soothing and protecting the skin. Another one of our favourites is the Dior Face & Body foundation. It’s a beautiful, weightless, natural finish foundation that provides medium buildable coverage, and is sweatproof as well as water-resistant. Perfect for those super hot days!
Next, let’s talk about cream products. Cream products will be your best friend when thinking about a sweatproof makeup application. They will provide you with the perfect wash of colour and will be great for touching up! Think about using a cream bronzer and cream blush. Our Chisel Me contour stick provides the most subtle, chiselled and sun-kissed look. It is lightweight in texture which allows it to blend seamlessly into the skin, provides an ultra long-wear and is a medium coverage that is buildable and doesn’t crease or cake on the face. Set, set, set! Your makeup won’t last without setting it. Using a translucent setting powder sparingly in the right areas will ensure your makeup lasts throughout the heat and sweat! Go in with our Flawless setting powder and set those areas that tend to crease such as the under eyes, smile lines, and T-zone where we tend to get oily! This powder is universal, doesn’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles, and minimizes the appearance of pores, giving the face an airbrushed look. We also love the good old Laura Mercier setting powder which is great if you prefer a loose powder and will give you the same results! Not only should you set with powder, but you can never have too much setting spray. Never skip this step, it’s an absolute must if you want your makeup to last all day and night!
We also recommend using the spray to mist throughout your makeup application to help with the longevity of your makeup, as well as throughout the day to refresh.
