MAKEUP
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. I have used this on every client I have had since this product was released years ago. It is with me on every job. This is the go-to “baking” powder that celebrity makeup artists use on their clients. I recommend it for setting your makeup every time, whether it be your everyday look or for your more glam events. I use it side by side with my other can’t live without it product —
The Beauty Blender. You have to use the blender dampened for it to be effective with the powder, then just dip it easily into the powder and set it under the eye. These two products together are incredible.
My own personal ride or die lipstick is NYX Silk Indulgent, part of their Lingerie line. I love the blend of pinks, peaches and nude. You can get it at Rexall among other places so it’s accessible and truly awesome.
In terms of lip liner, I must admit I’m a bit of a liner junkie, but I really am a big supporter of NYX lip liners and colours. They’re affordable enough for everyday use, the range of colour is huge, they’re easy to find and the texture is perfect. Some of my favourite shades of liners are “Los Angeles”, “Nude Suede Shoes”, “Soft Spoken”, “Nude”, “Natural” and “Nude Beige”. They really have a killer selection of colours so there is undoubtedly a shade for every preference. Having said that, I am a big fan of nude liners, because they can be paired with any colour and give your lips that fuller, gorgeous look. Give it a try and you’ll be hooked.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is my can’t live without it foundation when I’m getting either myself or a client ready for a special event or outing. They have a good range of colour from light to tan skin tones, though I will admit the darker tones beyond that are lacking somewhat. That being said, they do offer terrific medium and buildable coverage and really give your skin that fresh, glowing and healthy look. These really are a must.
If you’ve ever struggled with a foundation and found it was difficult to blend, my next ride or die product is absolutely one you need to jump on. Prep and Prime Fix+ from Mac is a miracle worker. Just spray it on to your Beauty Blender, dab the blender into your foundation and then watch the foundation melt into your skin. If you don’t have the blender in your kit yet, you can do the same with a foundation brush.
Stila Diamond Dust Glitters are products that I purchase over and over again. They look glamorous, are fantastic for party makeup or special events and I use them on a lot of my clients. They add this vibrant, shimmering, disco pop while still remaining classy. Rose Gold Retro and Bronze Bell are two of my go-to colours, while Pearlina and Golden Goddess are also stunners. You really can step up your eye makeup game with these Glitters!
SKINCARE
Of course, after your day or night of fabulous makeup and glamour, you will have to clean your skin and remove the makeup. I know makeup removal can be a pain and finding the right product to properly cleanse and refresh your skin can be a challenge, so I’d absolutely recommend Bioderma’s Hydrating Micellar Makeup Remover Water. Find the remover with the blue lid as opposed to the pink lid, it smells amazing and is great for dehydrated skin, something many of use struggle with daily. If you also suffer from sensitive skin, don’t pass on this one. It’s an awesome product that works brilliantly and feels great.
I am not one to repurchase a lot of products over and over again, I love to try new things and test out the latest trends to stay up to the minute. So believe me when I say, these products really are ones I couldn’t imagine working or playing without. If there are any consistent products you should be adding to your arsenal, these are definitely the ones!
