It’s hard to believe it’s been 11 weeks since becoming a Mrs. It feels like it was yesterday while also feeling like it was forever ago! It has been so fun connecting with friends and family and reminiscing about the day and imagining it all from their point of view.
The time has finally come to chat about my wedding makeup and to dish the tea on the only thing that went wrong on the wedding day. It was something I never thought could happen but will be a good warning for future brides!
Let me start off by saying as far as wedding drama goes, I know that I am blessed considering this was the only thing that went wrong! HOWEVER, in the moment, trust me when I say there was about 30 seconds of full-blown panic. Here’s a hint…
You guessed it, the culprit was shoes. Now allow me to paint the picture for you ;). All of our guests are being seated in the reception space waiting for us to be announced as husband and wife for the first time! While everyone is filtering in, Ev and I squeeze in a couple more shots with our photographer. We were walking hand in hand through the grass when suddenly SNAP! The heel on my shoe broke right off, and in the blink of an eye, I have one heel and one flat on! Cue the 30 seconds of full-blown panic. I look at my photographer while literally holding the heel in my hand and said, “ I need a bridesmaid…now.” Thankfully, I didn’t care what jewelry my girls wore, and I didn’t care what they wanted for their hair or makeup—the only thing I requested was that they wore white shoes!! This was truly a saving grace. As you can see, my dress had quite the slit, so the shoes did matter ;). Before I could even get upset about what was happening, my wonderful bridesmaid, Skylar had her shoes off her feet and on mine! Lesson learned brides, ALWAYS have a backup shoe. They don’t have to be the same or even overly expensive, but if you have a shoe malfunction, you know you have a backup!

If you had been following along on my journey, you know that I tested MANY, different makeup looks. Everything from the the pinky shadows, bronzed eye, smoked wing linger, and a mix of it all!
No matter what I did, I was always conscious of one thing: I wanted to look back on my photos and never think, “Why the heck did I do that?!” Working in the wedding industry, as well as doing my makeup for content often, it was so insanely hard for me to pick a look. There are so many beautiful styles and so many different things you can do. At the end of the day, I opted for a more natural look on the eyes with a small smokey wing, rosy cheeks, bronzed and glowing skin with a pink lip and lots of individual lashes!
I also know myself, and I knew that there were going to be plenty of tears from AM until PM and of course I was right :’). When I tell you my makeup lasted through ALL those ugly cries, I mean it!
