Fancy Face Owner Brittany Gray takes us through her favourite blushes for every skin tone and type.
Hello blushing beauties! Today we’re going to talk about all things blush as I take you through my favourite blushes for every skin tone and type, and tell you about the special products I reach for regularly. Let’s go!
Fair Skin Tones
First off, let’s take a look at that lovely, fair toned skin. This is the skin that, instantly upon applying blush, takes on glorious colour. Exposed by Tarte is one of my two recommendations for the fair skinned. I must admit that when I first saw Exposed I thought it was a pretty blah colour. But when you use it on those with fair skin, it looks phenomenal! It’s a lovely, flush colour. And for those of you with medium toned skin who really appreciate a neutral, barely there blush, it’s also great. Well Dressed by Mac is also awesome on fair toned skin. It gives this gorgeous pinky, peony flush to the cheeks and is one of my favourites on brides. It’s great as a topper as well, to add that bit of a luminous glow. It’s matte, but does have a touch of silky luminosity. Both of these blushes work on oily or dry skin, they don’t look chalky and they won’t make your pores look larger. They really are just perfect for fair tones!
Every Skin Tone
Stila’s line of cream blushes are, in my opinion, just the best! They’re the Convertible Colour Dual Lip and Cheek by Stila. I don’t use them on my lips, usually, I focus on my cheeks. What I tend to do if I’m doing a full face of makeup is apply my foundation, concealer, cream bronzer and my cream blush first, before I go into my powdered products. I find that using cream based products underneath a powdered blush or bronzer helps make your makeup last longer and just adds a bit more life to your face. The fact that you can use this product on your lips, too, is a lovely little bonus! Cream blushes work beautifully on any skin tone and are great if you’re 50 plus wonderful years and you find your skin is a little bit drier. Use a Real Techniques Synthetic Brush or just pop some onto the apples of your cheeks with your fingers, it will brighten you right up, it won’t dry out your skin and will be very flattering. You’ll love it!
Medium Skin Tones
Whether you have dry or oily skin, if you want that perfect combination of blush and bronzer, I must say Fancy Face’s Ballerina Bronzer is just the ticket! You have the bronzer on the left and the blush on the right. It’s that universal colour that can work on pretty much everyone, though it’s particularly lovely for medium skin tones. It’s a soft blush, so it won’t give you a ton of colour, it will just give you that lovely, lit from within glow. I wear it everyday! Whether I’m spray tanned and a bit darker or when I’m fairer in skin tone, it works wonderfully.
Darker Skin Tones
Looking at cream blushes first, the Camellia by Becca is a very beautiful colour for darker skin tones and it’s quite popular. Sun Kissed by NudeStix is another blush for darker skin tones that I absolutely love! The fact that it’s in stick form makes it super easy to apply; it’s a tanned, blush colour and it is gorgeous. For a powdered blush, I recommend Pinch Me by Mac. It has a ton of pigment, so you can apply it sparingly for a lovely glow or, if you have very deeply toned skin, you can really dip into it to get that gorgeous, rosey flush!
That’s my round up for my favourite blushes for every skin tone and type! I hope one catches you and you give it a try. Let me know what you think! I’ve always thought that finding the perfect blush can really add that lovely final touch and glow to your skin.
