Hey, beauties,
Hannah here! We recently shared Stephanie LaChance’s bridal makeup look on our socials and the response was unreal! I couldn’t be more excited to break down these two glam looks for you all. The love for this look has truly warmed my heart.
During the last weekend of July, I had the pleasure of doing the makeup for Steph LaChance, long-time girlfriend of Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner, for their beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake wedding. What makes this even more special is that Steph and I have been friends for many years. Growing up in Whitby and attending local high schools, it was a true honour to be part of her big day. Steph is not only beautiful but also incredibly sweet and kind, making working with her over the past year an absolute dream.
On the Friday before the wedding, I met Steph at the stunning Riverbend Inn and Vineyard to create a glam look for their rehearsal dinner and welcome party. Steph chose a stunning rehearsal dress from Anthropologie’s BHLDN bridal line. It perfectly combined elegance and allure. Her hair was blown out and styled into a half-up, half-down look with face-framing pieces. I knew her makeup had to match the vibe of the dress and hair, but we also wanted it to differ from her planned wedding day look. I asked Steph, “Okay, girl, what are you thinking for today’s glam?” to which she replied, “Whatever you think, I trust you.” Cue angels singing. This is music to a makeup artist’s ears. Having worked with Steph for a while, I know exactly what works and what doesn’t for her. While I had planned an “angel makeup” look for the wedding day, I decided to go for something completely different for the rehearsal. Smoky lashes, minimal eyeshadow on her lid and crease, a bronzy neutral blush, ample bronzer, and a nude lip. This rehearsal glam was nothing short of dreamy.
For those hoping to recreate this look, here are some of the key products I used: Poetry in Potion Serum, Daydream Rosewater Cream, Illuminée Eye Serum, Stardust Gel Eye Masks, Supermodel Lip Bath in Strawberry Strut, Perk Up Concealer, Crème de la Crème Eye Shadow Palette, Basic Boss Lashes, Skinny Brow Pencil in Blonde, Almost Famous Cream Blush, Flawless Setting Powder, Maui Mood Bronzer, Peach Babe Blush, Dew-U Cream Highlight, Nude Lip Liner, 5th Ave Lip Glaze, Modern Muse Lip Lacquer, and Lavender Setting Spray. After wrapping up on Friday, Britt and I headed into town for some fun and dinner. We enjoyed a lovely glass (or two) of frozé at Trius, followed by a delightful dinner at 11th Post on Queen. I highly recommend both places if you’re looking for spots to explore in NOTL.
Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for – wedding day! After having the pleasure of glamming Steph numerous times over the past year, we knew exactly what she wanted on the big day. As mentioned, I think of it as “angel makeup.” A touch of definition in the crease and outer corner, using the matte shades from our CDLC palette. These shades strike the perfect balance between warmth and coolness, adding just the right amount of definition and color. A bright shimmer on the lid (important to note that it’s shimmer, not glitter ;)), and of course, a subtle baby shadow wing. I prefer a mix of eyeshadow and gel liner for this. Liquid liner can be too harsh. For the skin, a flawless base is key. Ensure the foundation is a perfect match, the concealer is slightly brighter by half to a full shade, and take your time with cream contour and blush. These steps are essential for achieving that “blushing bride” effect. After completing all the cream work, we set the skin and applied powder bronzer (Maui Mood) and powder blush (Rosé-OK?). Even though we used a setting powder to lock everything in, it’s wise to go over with powdered complexion products for longevity. Steph’s wedding day makeup turned out even better than I could have imagined – she looked like a real-life angel.
