Brittany is gearing up for that long awaited vacation and here at Fancy Face, she takes a moment to share her awesome list of beauty travel essentials.
It’s that time! The time of year you long for, when you count down the days and suddenly, your bags are packed and you’re on your way. It’s vacation time! But how can you best prepare for that vacation so you head into it relaxed and ready to go? One of the things on my list is making sure I have all of my beauty essentials for travel.
BODY PRODUCTS
One body product necessity for many vacation destinations in sunscreen! I love the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist because it provides brilliant protection from both UVA and UVB rays as well as giving you a lovely glow. It’s lightweight, and is used by Scott Barnes, makeup artist to J-Lo. Need I say more? Get your sun protected glow on!
HAIR PRODUCTS
Dry shampoo is also a must-have hair product in my travel arsenal. Design Me Hair has a Dry Shampoo for blondes and brunettes. So if you have darker hair and are tired of that white mist layering itself upon you, try this awesome dry shampoo. You’ll be a happy traveller.
When you are spending a lot of time in the sun, in the salty sea or in chlorinated pools, Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 hair strengthener is going to be your friend, it’s essentially a leave in conditioner. Put it in your hair and leave it on for ten minutes or if you need a lot of extra love, leave it in overnight. When you rinse it out your hair will feel incredible and have been given an extra dose of strength and shine from root to tip. I highly recommend this stuff, especially if your holiday is sand, sun and sea oriented.
HAIR ACCESSORIES
When I travel I love to find easy ways to jazz up my hair without having to put in too much time or effort. Who wants to waste precious vacation time on hair styling? A quick clip for a bit of pop is a lovely and easy trick. Amazon offers these lovely pearl clips that are absolutely trending at the moment and they come in a number of different shapes and sizes. You can even put in a more than one for a cool and put together look.
I also love to bring any kind of funky headband. They’re great to help keep your hair back when you’re pulling yourself together but also give you a lovely option for a fun travel piece, no matter your destination!
Finding the right elastic to keep your hair neat and out of the way used to be a challenge, but these days you can find kink free, super stretchy and soft elastics pretty much anywhere, including Sephora. Another handy must have in the travel essentials kit.
FACE PRODUCTS
If you’re travelling in warmer climates, an essential face product you’ll want to bring with you is a terrific primer. Of course, if you have drier skin you’re likely happy with that bit of a dewy glow that comes with some extra heat, but for those with oily skin Lancome’s Prep and Matte is perfect for the T-Zone to keep your makeup looking fabulous all day long.
Gee Beauty’s Hydrating Mist works a treat to help keep you glowing and prevent that dry, itchy feeling that time in the air can cause. It reminds me a lot of the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist. Your face just drinks it like water!
The Chanel Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream is a must-have for me when I travel to those beachy destinations. It’s a cream bronzer that buffs beautifully onto the skin with a synthetic brush. It isn’t overly powdery or chalky and just gives you a lovely glow.
LIP PRODUCTS
When you’re on the plane, that altitude and the lower humidity levels can cause dry skin, but there are a couple of ways I like to help keep my skin hydrated. Dior Lip Glows give a lovely hint of colour while providing hydration to the lips, and you don’t look overly done up on the plane. I do also love to wear these under longwear matte lip colour if you’re looking for added moisture and a smooth canvas for your lips for day or night. If you want a lip hydrator that doesn’t have colour or pigment and you just want to give your lips some love, I’m going to once again recommend the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. It really is one of the best products out there. Slather it on and your lips will be in heaven.
EYE PRODUCTS
Under eye masks reduce puffiness, fine lines, dark circles – they’re amazing. Fancy Face has just launched our own brand of under eye masks and Fancy Face products and we’re so excited! Our masks are the Fancy Face Stardust Eye Masks and they’re packed with hydration. Just put them under your eyes for an hour or so while you’re on the plane. Seriously, if you don’t care what you look like on the plane, pop on these bad boys, throw on some serum and do your skincare routine mid- flight! I love these masks – obsessed.
When the Fancy Face team travels for work, we don’t often have time to prep our hair and makeup in a more complete way. So simple is best. Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadows are quick and easy, are flattering and stay put are the way to go! I love the Jean champagne and Bette bronze tone colours, they work on every skin tone. Just dip into the product, wipe it on the lid of your eye for a wash of colour and blend it into the crease. You’re done.
Waterproof mascara is a must in my travel arsenal! L’Oreal’s Voluminous Black Mascara in carbon black is my go-to for traveling. Your lashes will stay in place no matter what the day holds. This mascara is my absolute number one favourite. Hands down. Go buy it.
GLOW AND COLOUR
Cream blushes are also great for warmer climates and time on the beach. Glossier’s Cloud Paint in beam and puff are wonderful for either a pinky or a peachier colour. You don’t need any other makeup, just dab some on the apples of your cheek for a lovely flush of colour on the beach. You can use it on your lips as well for a fresh and hydrated face!
The Becca Glow Glaze Stick will be your best friend if you’re looking for that beachy glow, whether you’re on or off the beach. It creates a great pop on top of your cheek bones and blends wonderfully with the Cloud Paint. You’ll have this sunkissed glow all day long. Add it along and down the tip of your nose and a bit over your brow for that “I just came back from the spa and had a facial” kind of look.
JEWELLERY… AND MANGO AND MOOSE
I’m a fan of keeping the jewellery simple when I travel. I’ll put in lovely, small hoops that I keep on the whole time, as I am not a fan of changing up jewellery when travelling. My dear friend Kim who owns Style by Kim XO gave me a necklace that can be worn all day and night. It’s an amazing piece with a purpose. It was was made by a fierce woman who suffered in a life of human trafficking and has come out the other side. The woman’s thumb print is on the case and Kim’s XO logo is inside of it. Mango and Moose is the Canadian company that creates these opportunities for women and families in need, some who’ve been pulled out of human trafficking. They help these women get back on their feet by creating awesome artisan work opportunities in which they can thrive. At Fancy Face we do what we can to support and empower women, so I’d absolutely encourage you to support and check out what Mango and Moose offers.
