Fancy Face Founder Brittany Gray shares her favourite skincare
and makeup products for the month of February
As a makeup and hair artist, I work hard to stay current and aware of the latest skincare and makeup products on the market. For my clients, brides, as well as for myself and my team of artists, I am always exploring and sourcing new skincare, hair brands, and makeup products that work brilliantly and leave you feeling beautiful and camera ready. Here is February’s up to the minute list of favourites! The Huda Beauty Nude Eyeshadow Palette is perfect for those who love pinkish undertones in their eyeshadow. The palette has both amazing mattes and gorgeous glitter eyeshadows. If you’re searching for those visually stunning and Insta-worthy shadows, these are what you need. They are stunning on camera.Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows are awesome when you’re looking for a bit of extra glamour. I love the Gold Goddess and Diamond Dust colours, but there are many really lovely colours to choose from. Stila also has a great Shimmers line, but the Glitters are my favourite. I use them on a number of my clients, they’re fabulous for special events and also great for bridesmaids and the occasional bride who wants to have a bit of glitter in her shadow. Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer not only works extremely well on all skin types, but it smells amazing, too! The texture is incredibly smooth and it fills in fine lines and pores. The primer was created based off of a Japanese wax called Bintsuke that the Geisha’s used to wear underneath their white makeup, so there is a really neat little time honoured history with this particular product. Makeup Forever HD Stick foundations for all over the skin look amazing in photographs and on camera. The Y505-177 tone is fantastic for contouring, in particular.Talking lips, I currently love the NYX Lip Lingerie line. The Cheekies, Silk Indulgent and Tea and Cookies are my go to colours for both my clients and for me from day to day!The Anastasia Blush Quad that I’ve been using regularly is unfortunately discontinued, but I would absolutely recommend Anastasia blushes to add to your kit. They have a great amount of pigment and you really need very little for great effect. Though they’re in powder form they have a really creamy texture, which I also love.I found this really awesome Coconut Rose Hydrating Face Mist at Marshall’s, so who knows if I’ll ever find it again – however, Mario Badescu has a very similar Rosewater Spray that’ll give your sensitive facial skin hydration through day and to help set your makeup. Taking a look at products that I often use for my clients that are effective but great for shorter term use, I love the Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin 1 Minute Mask. You can put it on while having your hair done and leave it on for a bit longer and it will add this absolutely beautiful glow to your skin.Another amazing product for added glow is Chanel’s Chanel Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream bronzer. It has an almost creamy texture and is great for light to medium skin tones. It adds this wonderful sunkissed glow to your skin in a hydrated way, there isn’t a trace of chalkiness that can exist in many other bronzers. The tone and texture of this product is fabulous. The Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette called Ring the Alarm has these absolutely gorgeous warm, bronze tones for your eyes if you’re searching for a different palette to add to your collection.Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream is one of my all time favourite creams for prepping the skin and has amazing and powerful ingredients. I use it on my brides and it leaves this brilliant, radiant glow that leaves you absolutely photo ready. Stila’s Kitten Eyeshadow is gorgeous for highlighting the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye for an extra pop. I use it on my brides all of the time and it really gives the eye that extra wow factor in photos. To add extra hydration to your lips, Smith’s Minted Rose Lip Balm is awesome. It’s $10 at Chapters and is extremely effective, especially during these colder months. I always prep my brides and clients with this lip balm.Stila’s cream blush and lip Convertible Color has a great range of colours for many skin tones. I personally love the Peony and Gerbera colours. This combination product really flatters your skin after you apply contour and foundation, as it brings life back into your complexion. It’s also a great product to use for those who don’t want to use a lot of makeup and helps to keep your collection a little more minimalist.Dose of Color’s Eyedeal Duo is another terrific dual product that I keep in my collection. It’s a cream eyeshadow on top and a loose pigment powder on the bottom. Just put the cream on the lid of your eye and add the powder on top for a glamourous shimmer and pop. I love the Shell shade but they are all stunning and really look expensive and gorgeous. Lots of our Fancy Face clients absolutely love this dual product.
Though we’re constantly finding new and brilliant products, that’s our most recent and up to date selection of favourites for February. Happy shopping!
